Introducing Albert, a Sime Darby scholar in Electrical Power Engineering and a certified Project Management Professional. His diverse career spans seven years in engineering at Sime Darby Industrial, followed by 15 years dedicated to corporate strategy, projects, and facilities management services at Sime Darby Motors. This adds up to an almost 23 year journey with Sime Darby Berhad.
Throughout his tenure at Sime Darby, Albert has navigated various roles and responsibilities with grace and determination. Presently, Albert is the Head of Business Development and Projects for Retail and Distribution in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
He began his journey with Sime Darby 2001 at Tractors Malaysia, where his engineering prowess propelled him into a leadership role as Lead Engineer. His team consistently surpassed sales targets globally. The pivotal moment in Albert's career came in 2008 when he transitioned to corporate services, becoming the Special Officer to the EVP of Motors Division, Dato’ Lawrence Lee. This marked a shift in his career progression as it ignited his passion for corporate strategy.

Albert enjoys the unique challenges that each project brings and the quest of bring in new marques into the Sime Darby Motors’s umbrella. This excitement motivates him to think out-of-the box to solve projects, allowing him to expand his horizons.
Albert’s leadership capabilities shine through in his involvement with several of the Group’s significant projects, including the development of Sime Darby Motors City project in Ara Damansara and securing the importation and distribution of BYD electric vehicles for Sime Darby Motors Malaysia. He also played a crucial role in the acquisition of UMW in Malaysia which underlines his ability to navigate complex challenges and contribute to the strategic growth to the company.
His dedication to excellence has further earned him recognition with two prestigious awards at The Edge Malaysia Best Managed & Sustainable Property Awards 2022. Managing the completion of Southeast Asia's largest flagship automotive complex has become his career highlight, showcasing his commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Albert emphasises the importance of trust, open communication and fostering a familial atmosphere within his team. His leadership style focuses on motivation during challenging times and upholding integrity as a guiding principle.
“My team members can come to me and have candid conversations on anything; be it work or personal. I have always practiced the policy that “my door is always open”, as opposed to “my door is closed unless open”, he said.
“We have always respected the differences in culture and beliefs and are sensitive to the sensitivities”.

The company has exposed him to various training programmes that supported his development from his time in Tractors Malaysia until his position today. The motivation and guidance he received has inspired him to give his best every day in the best interest of the company.
